Public and Mock Examinations
Mock
examinations are held in March for year 10 students and
November for year 11 students, and last for approximately
two weeks. Information is given to the students in plenty
of tme time for them to prepare for these mock exams and
they will be given a timetable of when and where they need
to be for each examination.
Public GCSE examinations are taken during year 11, some of
these are in November, January and March with
the majority
being
held
during
May to June each year and consist of written and
practical examinations. (Please note that not all students
take exams at each time and they will be given plenty of
notice
regarding
dates and times if they
are scheduled to sit an exam), some
year 10 students will also take public exams, such as GCSE
science modules which are held in November, March
and June. Some year 10 students will also take maths or statistics
GCSE in the summer.
Once students are entered for exams the exam boards send
confirmation slips confirming the details. Along with these
year 11 students are given a full personal exam timetable,
and copies of the rules and regulations, during
March, they should keep these in a safe place.
For students and parents
information, dates
are listed here,
these will
be
updated
as and when
confirmed
dates
and
times
are received
from the
Examination Boards.
Coursework
Coursework
also has to be completed by set dates and students will
be informed of this by their subject teacher. If this is
not receieved by the deadline it may not be accepted
by the Examination Boards, and therefore may effect their
final exam marks.
Final Examinations Dates
Many Year 11 students ask when their
last examination date will be so that families can book summer
holdays. It is not possible to find out each students personal
timetable until
January/February
of their final year when complete lists are received from the
teachers. If details
are needed
before
this date
it is best to use the actual final
examination date as opposed to the students personal final
exam date, this is usually during the final week of June.
Rules
and Regulations
There are rules and regulations from the examinations
boards that all students taking exams must adhere to. Copies
of these are shown below. Students
will all receive hard copies of these before the exam periods,
plus the Notice to Candidates and the Warning to Candidates
notices are both displayed in poster format inside and
outside the examination room. Parents and students can
view them below or print them off to be fully aware
of these regulations.
Illness
If students have a long term illness during the examination
period or during the coursework completion period please inform
the subject teacher or Student Learning Manager immediately.
It may be possible to send in a request for special consideration
from the examination
board.
